1 Senate Resolution No.
2 A resolution commending the Dixie Belles
3 softball team of Hernando County for winning
4 the 1999 Dixie World Series Championship.

6 WHEREAS, the Dixie Belles softball team of the Hernando
7 Youth League recently parlayed their skill, hard work, and
8 determination into unprecedented success in a major softball
9 tournament, and
10 WHEREAS, the Dixie Belles team consists of girls 13-15
11 years of age who represent all three Hernando County public
12 high schools, and
13 WHEREAS, the Dixie Belles emerged victorious over other
14 Hernando County teams and teams throughout the state at the
15 Dixie League Softball State Tournament held at Tom Varn Park
16 in early July 1999, and
17 WHEREAS, the Dixie Belles then traveled to Evans,
18 Georgia, to compete against five teams, lasting through six
19 games and finally defeating Alabama on August 5th to claim the
20 Dixie World Series Championship title, NOW, THEREFORE,

22 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

24 That the Florida Senate does hereby recognize the
25 accomplishments of the Dixie Belles softball team in winning
26 the 1999 Dixie World Series Championship and does congratulate
27 team members Carrie Bruzzi, Shauna Dampier, Emily Eicholtz,
28 Carolyn Gant, Lyndsay Grey, Whitney Griffin, Jessica Maggard,
29 Jennifer Reyes, Kristi Langworthy, Caitlin Sears, Tonya
30 Stevenson, Nicole Young, and Heather Krasniewski; team manager
31 Darin Dampier; team coaches Sam Hill and Paul Grey; and the

1 Hernando Youth League Board, and commends the team for being
2 the first girl's team in Hernando County history to capture a
3 Dixie World Series title.
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,
5 with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to team
6 manager Darin Dampier as a token of the sentiments of the
7 Florida Senate.
