11  The Committee on Community Affairs offered the following:

13         Amendment 

14  remove from the bill:  everything after the enacting clause

15

16  and insert in lieu thereof:

17         Section 1.  The present corporate limits of the City of

18  Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, are hereby extended and

19  enlarged to include, in addition to the territory presently

20  within its corporate limits, that portion of Section 32,

21  Township 49 South, Range 42 East, Broward County, Florida,

22  being more particularly describes as follows:

23

24         BEGINNING AT THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF "GOLDEN

25         HEIGHTS HOMES" AS RECORDED IN PLAT BOOK 40,

26         PAGE 28, PUBLIC RECORDS OF BROWARD COUNTY,

27         FLORIDA;

29         THENCE NORTH 00°46'04" EAST ALONG THE WEST LINE

30         OF SAID PLAT FOR 688.62 FEET TO THE NORTHWEST

31         CORNER OF SAID PLAT;

 2         THENCE EAST ALONG THE NORTH LINE OF SAID PLAT

 3         FOR 2004.16 FEET TO THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF

 4         SAID PLAT;

 6         THENCE SOUTH 00°50'06" WEST ALONG THE EAST LINE

 7         OF SAID PLAT FOR 682.46 FEET TO THE SOUTHEAST

 8         CORNER OF SAID PLAT, THE LAST 3 COURSES BEING

 9         COINCIDENT WITH THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE

10         CITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE;

12         THENCE SOUTH 89°53'15" WEST ALONG THE SOUTH

13         LINE OF SAID PLAT FOR 1134.17 FEET;

15         THENCE SOUTH 89°41'45" WEST LONG THE SOUTH LINE

16         OF SAID PLAT FOR 669.28 FEET TO THE POINT OF

17         BEGINNING.

19         Lying within Broward County, Florida.

20         Containing 31.89 acres, more or less.

22         Section 2.  All public roads and the public

23  rights-of-way associated therewith, lying within the

24  limits of the lands subject to annexation herein, as

25  described in section 1, are transferred from Broward

26  County jurisdiction to the jurisdiction of the

27  annexing municipality.

28         Section 3.  On the effective date of this act,

29  the City of Fort Lauderdale shall be responsible for

30  and embodied with all municipal powers granted in

31  chapter 166, Florida Statutes, over territory hereby

 1  annexed.

 2         Section 4.  Nothing in this act shall be

 3  construed to affect or abrogate the rights of parties

 4  to any contracts, whether the same be between Broward

 5  County and a third party or between nongovernmental

 6  entities, which contracts are in effect prior to the

 7  effective date of annexation.

 8         Section 5.  This act shall take effect

 9  September 15, 2000.
