  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the City of Fort Lauderdale,

  3         Broward County; extending and enlarging the

  4         corporate limits of the City of Fort Lauderdale

  5         to include specified unincorporated lands

  6         within said corporate limits; providing an

  7         effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10

11         Section 1.  The present corporate limits of the City of

12  Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, are hereby extended and

13  enlarged to include, in addition to the territory presently

14  within its corporate limits, that portion of Section 32,

15  Township 49 South, Range 42 East, Broward County, Florida,

16  being more particularly describes as follows:

18         BEGINNING AT THE SOUTHEAST CORNER ALONG SAID

19         "GOLDEN HEIGHTS HOMES";

20

21         THENCE NORTH 00°46'04" EAST ALONG THE WEST LINE

22         OF SAID PLAT FOR 668.62 FEET TO THE NORTHWEST

23         CORNER OF SAID PLAT;

24

25         THENCE EAST ALONG THE NORTH LINE OF SAID PLAT

26         FOR 1333.74 FEET TO THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF

27         SAID PLAT;

28

29         THENCE SOUTH 00°50'06" WEST ALONG THE EAST LINE

30         OF SAID PLAT FOR 682.46 FEET TO THE SOUTHEAST

31         CORNER OF SAID PLAT, THE LAST 3 COURSES BEING

  1         COINCIDENT WITH THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE

  2         CITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE;

  3

  4         THENCE SOUTH 89°53'15" WEST ALONG THE SOUTH

  5         LINE OF SAID PLAT FOR 1134.17 FEET TO THE POINT

  6         OF BEGINNING.

  7

  8         Lying within Broward County, Florida.

  9         Containing 31.89 acres, more or less.

11         Section 2.  All public roads and the public

12  rights-of-way associated therewith, lying within the limits of

13  the lands subject to annexation herein, as described in

14  section 1, are transferred from Broward County jurisdiction to

15  the jurisdiction of the annexing municipality.

16         Section 3.  On the effective date of this act, the City

17  of Fort Lauderdale shall be responsible for and embodied with

18  all municipal powers granted in chapter 166, Florida Statutes,

19  over territory hereby annexed.

20         Section 4.  Nothing in this act shall be construed to

21  affect or abrogate the rights of parties to any contracts,

22  whether the same be between Broward County and a third party

23  or between nongovernmental entities, which contracts are in

24  effect prior to the effective date of annexation.

25         Section 5.  This act shall take effect September 15,

26  2000.
