  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to Broward County; extending

  3         and enlarging the corporate limits of the

  4         Cities of Dania Beach and Hollywood to include

  5         specific unincorporated lands within the

  6         corporate limits of said cities; providing for

  7         transfer of public roads and rights-of-way and

  8         responsibilities thereof; providing for

  9         exceptions; providing for referenda; providing

10         an effective date.

11

12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13

14         Section 1.  The Broward County Board of County

15  Commissioners shall call for a referendum in the November 2000

16  general election in accordance with provisions of law relating

17  to elections currently in force.

18         (a)  The purpose of said referendum shall be to

19  determine the annexation of area A as below described into

20  either the City of Dania Beach or the City of Hollywood.  Only

21  the registered voters residing in area A below described may

22  vote in said referendum.

23         (b)  The legal description of area A is as follows:

24

25         Portions of Section 31 and 32, Township 50

26         South, Range 42 East, Broward County, Florida,

27         described as follows:  Begin at the Southeast

28         corner of Lot 15, Block 4 in said Section 31 of

29         Reed Land Company's "PLAT OF SEC'S. 28, 29, 31

30         and 32, T. 50S., R. 42E." according to the Plat

31         thereof as recorded in Plat Book 2, Page 32 of

  5         City of Hollywood Ordinance No. 99-175, said

  6         parcel being more particularly described as

  7         follows:  Parcel "A" of "Edgewater Farms"

  8         according to the Plat thereof, as recorded in

  9         Plat Book 143, Page 33 of the Public Records of

10         Broward County, Florida.  Said lands containing

11         10 acres, more or less.

13         Said area D containing 643 acres, more or less.

15         (c)  Effective September 15, 2001, the unincorporated

16  lands in area D shall be annexed and become a part of the

17  municipality for which the majority of voters voting in the

18  referendum of November 7, 2000, have chosen.  On September 15,

19  2001, said municipality shall have all powers, privileges, and

20  benefits as provided in section 171.062, Florida Statutes,

21  over the lands as described in area D.

22         (d)  All roads within area D as described in subsection

23  (b) are hereby transferred from the jurisdiction of Broward

24  County to the annexing municipality except for any roads

25  designated county collector roads as of September 15, 2001.

26         Section 5.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

27  law.
