  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Florida Statutes;

  3         repealing various statutory provisions that

  4         have become obsolete, have had their effect,

  5         have served their purpose, or have been

  6         impliedly repealed or superseded; repealing s.

  7         163.055(1)(a) and (b), F.S., relating to

  8         findings with respect to the Local Government

  9         Financial Technical Assistance Program;

10         repealing s. 210.10(2), F.S., relating to

11         powers of the Division of Alcoholic Beverages

12         and Tobacco vested pursuant to a repealed

13         provision of law; amending s. 265.001, F.S.;

14         deleting obsolete provisions relating to

15         selection of members to the Florida Women's

16         Hall of Fame; repealing s. 272.161(1)(d), F.S.,

17         relating to an audit and report to the

18         Legislature on state employee parking in

19         non-state-owned parking lots; repealing s.

20         287.064(9), F.S., relating to authority of the

21         Department of Law Enforcement for fiscal year

22         1998-1999 to finance through the Comptroller's

23         consolidated master equipment financing program

24         the purchase of equipment, software, and

25         services for the Florida Crime Information

26         Center; repealing s. 287.084(3), F.S., relating

27         to authority of the Glades School District for

28         fiscal year 1999-2000 to give consideration to

29         Florida vendors for a pilot program for

30         telemedicine within the district; providing an

31         effective date.

  1  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  2

  3         Section 1.  Paragraphs (a) and (b) of subsection (1) of

  4  section 163.055, Florida Statutes, are repealed.

  5         Section 2.  Subsection (2) of section 210.10, Florida

  6  Statutes, is repealed.

  7         Section 3.  Section 265.001, Florida Statutes, is

  8  amended to read:

  9         265.001  Florida Women's Hall of Fame.--

10         (1)  It is the intent of the Legislature to recognize

11  and honor those women who, through their works and lives, have

12  made significant contributions to the improvement of life for

13  women and for all citizens of Florida.

14         (2)(a)  There is hereby established the Florida Women's

15  Hall of Fame. The Department of Management Services shall set

16  aside an area on the Plaza Level of the Capitol Building and

17  shall consult with the Florida Commission on the Status of

18  Women regarding the design and theme of such area.

19         (b)  Each person who is selected as a member shall have

20  a designation placed in the Florida Women's Hall of Fame,

21  which designation shall provide information regarding the

22  member's particular discipline or contribution and any vital

23  information relating to the member.

24         (3)  Within 1 year after July 1, 1992, the Governor

25  shall reinstate the 27 original members of the Florida Women's

26  Hall of Fame selected during 1982, 1984, and 1986.

27         (3)(4)(a)  Upon July 1, 1992, the Florida Commission on

28  the Status of Women shall accept nominations for the Florida

29  Women's Hall of Fame for 1992 and shall close nominations on

30  September 1. By October 1, the commission shall recommend to

  1  the Governor 10 persons from which up to three members shall

  2  be selected by November 1.

  3         (a)(b)  For Every year thereafter, the commission shall

  4  accept nominations for persons to be recommended as members of

  5  the Florida Women's Hall of Fame.  The commission shall

  6  recommend to the Governor 10 persons from which up to three

  7  members shall be selected.

  8         (b)(c)  In making recommendations pursuant to this

  9  subsection, the commission shall recommend women who were born

10  in Florida or adopted Florida as their home state and base of

11  operation and who have made a significant contribution to the

12  enhancement of women in this state.

13         (4)(5)  The Florida Commission on the Status of Women

14  may set specific time periods for acceptance of nominations

15  and the selection of members to coincide with the appropriate

16  activities of the Florida Women's Hall of Fame.

17         Section 4.  Paragraph (d) of subsection (1) of section

18  272.161, Florida Statutes, is repealed.

19         Section 5.  Subsection (9) of section 287.064, Florida

20  Statutes, is repealed.

21         Section 6.  Subsection (3) of section 287.084, Florida

22  Statutes, is repealed.

23         Section 7.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

24  law.
