14         Amendment (with title amendment) 

15         On page 5, lines 23 through 24,

16  remove:  all of said lines

18  and insert in lieu thereof:

19         Section 4.  This act shall take effect only upon its

20  approval by a majority of the qualified electors residing

21  within Manatee and Sarasota Counties voting in a referendum

22  election to be held during the November 2000 general

23  elections. The following ballot question shall be placed on

24  the ballot at the November 2000 general elections:

26    APPOINTMENT OF SARASOTA-MANATEE AIRPORT AUTHORITY MEMBERS

28  SHALL CHAPTER 00-     , LAWS OF FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR THE

29  APPOINTMENT OF BOARD MEMBERS OF THE SARASOTA-MANATEE AIRPORT

 2         Section 5.  If the referendum required by section 4 is

 3  approved, authority board candidates receiving a majority vote

 4  at the November 2000 general election shall not assume office,

 5  and vacancies on the board shall be appointed by the Governor

 6  as provided in this act.

 7         Section 6.  This act shall take effect upon referendum

 8  approval as provided by section 4; however, section 4 shall

 9  take effect upon becoming a law.

14         On page 1, line 24, after "severability;"

15

16  insert:

17         providing for a referendum; providing that

18         candidates receiving a majority vote at the

19         November 2000 general election do not assume
