  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to Monroe County; authorizing

  3         said county to enact amendments to

  4         comprehensive plans more frequently than twice

  5         a year under certain circumstances; providing

  6         an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of section

11  163.3187(1)(c)1.e., Florida Statutes, the Monroe County Board

12  of County Commissioners or the City of Key West City

13  Commissioners may adopt amendments to the comprehensive plan

14  more than two times during any calendar year if the proposed

15  amendment involves the construction of affordable housing

16  units meeting the criteria of s. 420.0004(3).  Such amendment

17  is not subject to the density limitations of s.

18  163.3187(1)(c)1.f., and shall be reviewed by the state land

19  planning agency for consistency with the principles for

20  guiding development applicable to the area of critical state

21  concern where the amendment is located and shall not become

22  effective until a final order is issued under s. 380.05(6).

23         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

24  law.
