11  Senator Bronson moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 61, between lines 15 and 16,

15

16  insert:

17         Section 40.  Section 373.1401, Florida Statutes, is

18  amended to read:

19         373.1401  Management of lands of water management

20  districts.--

21         (1)  The governing board of each water management

22  district may contract with a federal or state agency, a

23  county, a municipality, or any other governmental entity or

24  environmental nonprofit organization to provide for the

25  improvement, management, or maintenance of any real property

26  owned by or under the control of the district.

27         (2)  The cooperative and license agreement between the

28  Central and Southern Florida Flood Control District and the

29  United States, dated November 22, 1950, as amended, shall not

30  be extended automatically as provided in the agreement, but

31  may be extended to a date no later than January 1, 2003.

 1  Written notice of termination and cancellation of the

 2  automatic extensions of this agreement by the Executive

 3  Director of the South Florida Water Management District shall

 4  be provided, no later than September 1, 2000, to the person or

 5  entity of the United States who is designated under the

 6  agreement to receive such notice. Any renewal or extension of

 7  this cooperative and license agreement or any other lease or

 8  management agreement after January 1, 2003 between the South

 9  Florida Water Management District and any department, agency,

10  or entity of the United States for the management or occupancy

11  of state or district-owned land within Water Conservation Area

12  1 must be based upon prior, specific legislative authorization

13  by law.

20         On page 5, line 9, after the semicolon,

22  insert:

23         amending s. 373.1401, F.S.; providing that a

24         cooperative and license agreement between the

25         Central and Southern Florida Flood Control

26         District and the United States shall not extend

27         automatically; providing for the agreement's

28         extension; providing for specific legislative

29         authorization to extend certain agreements;
