  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Board of Regents;

  3         amending s. 240.5135, F.S.; authorizing the

  4         Board of Regents to provide comprehensive

  5         general liability coverage to Shands

  6         Jacksonville Healthcare, Inc., from certain

  7         programs; providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Section 240.5135, Florida Statutes, is

12  amended to read:

13         240.5135  Shands University Hospital of Jacksonville

14  Healthcare, Inc. and Faculty Clinic; Board of Regents

15  authorized to provide insurance.--The Board of Regents is

16  authorized to provide to Shands University Hospital of

17  Jacksonville Healthcare and Faculty Clinic, Inc., its

18  not-for-profit subsidiaries and affiliates, and any successor

19  corporation which acts in support of the Board of Regents,

20  comprehensive general liability coverage insurance, including

21  professional liability, from the self-insurance programs

22  insurance trust funds established pursuant to s. 240.213.

23         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

24  law.

      Authorizes the Board of Regents to provide to Shands
29    Jacksonville Healthcare, Inc., rather than to the
      University Hospital of Jacksonville and Faculty Clinic,
30    comprehensive general liability coverage from
      self-insurance programs established pursuant to general
31    law.
