  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to cooperative associations;

  3         amending s. 719.501, F.S.; reducing a fee paid

  4         on residential units operated by such

  5         associations; providing an effective date.

  7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  8

  9         Section 1.  Paragraph (a) of subsection (2) of section

10  719.501, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

11         719.501  Powers and duties of Division of Florida Land

12  Sales, Condominiums, and Mobile Homes.--

13         (2)(a)  Each cooperative association shall pay to the

14  division, on or before January 1 of each year, an annual fee

15  in the amount of $3 $4 for each residential unit in

16  cooperatives operated by the association.  If the fee is not

17  paid by March 1, then the association shall be assessed a

18  penalty of 10 percent of the amount due, and the association

19  shall not have the standing to maintain or defend any action

20  in the courts of this state until the amount due is paid.

21         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2000.
