13         Amendment (with title amendment) 

14  Remove from the bill:  Everything after the enacting clause

15

16  and insert in lieu thereof:

17         Section 1. Subsection (5) of section 316.1935, Florida

18  Statutes, is amended to read:

19         316.1935 Fleeing or attempting to elude a law

20  enforcement officer; aggravated fleeing and eluding.--

21         (5)(a) The court may revoke, for a period not to exceed

22  1 year, the driver's license of any operator of a motor

23  vehicle convicted of a violation of subsection (1).

24         (b) The court shall revoke, for a period of not less

25  than 1 year and not more than 5 years, the driver's license of

26  any operator of a motor vehicle convicted of a violation of

27  subsection (2) or subsection (3).

28         (c) The court shall revoke, for a period of not less

29  than 5 years and not more than 25 years, the driver's license

30  of any operator of a motor vehicle convicted of a violation of

31  subsection (4).  The period of revocation shall begin upon

 1  release from imprisonment.

 2  The court may revoke, for a period not to exceed 1 year, the

 3  driver's license of any operator of a motor vehicle convicted

 4  of a violation of subsection (1), subsection (2), subsection

 5  (3), or subsection (4).

 6         (6) A person whose driving privilege has been revoked

 7  under this section may petition the department for

 8  reinstatement of his or her driving privilege on a restricted

 9  basis solely for business or employment purposes as provided

10  in s. 322.271(1)(b).

11         Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 2000.

17  remove from the title of the bill:  all of said lines

19  and insert in lieu thereof:

20         A bill entitled An act relating to violations

21         of traffic law; amending s. 316.1935, F.S.;

22         increasing penalties for fleeing or attempting

23         to elude a law enforcement officer and

24         aggravated fleeing and eluding a law

25         enforcement officer; providing for the person

26         whose license has been revoked the right to

27         petition for a restricted license for business

28         or employment purposes; providing an effective

29         date.
