5 Veterans' Domiciliary Home of Florida; amending
6 s. 296.36, F.S.; providing additional
7 eligibility requirements for residency in the
8 Veterans' Nursing Home of Florida; providing an
9 effective date.

11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13 Section 1. Paragraph (e) is added to subsection (2) of
14 section 296.06, Florida Statutes, to read:
15 296.06 State policy; eligibility requirements.--
16 (2) To be eligible for residency in the home, a
17 veteran must:
18 (e) Have applied for all financial assistance
19 reasonably available through governmental sources.
20 Section 2. Paragraphs (c) and (d) are added to
21 subsection (1) of section 296.36, Florida Statutes, to read:
22 296.36 Eligibility and priority of admittance.--
23 (1) To be eligible for admittance to the home, the
24 person must be a veteran as defined in s. 1.01(14) and must:
25 (c) Not owe money to the department for services
26 rendered during any previous stay at a department facility.
27 (d) Have applied for all financial assistance
28 reasonably available through governmental sources.
29 Section 3. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
30 law.

Amends the "Veterans' Domiciliary Home of Florida Act" to
4 provide that a veteran must have applied for all
financial assistance reasonably available through
5 governmental sources to be eligible for residency in the
Veterans' Domiciliary Home of Florida.

7 Amends the "Veterans' Nursing Home of Florida Act" to
provide that a veteran must not owe money to the
8 Department of Veterans' Affairs for services rendered
during any previous stay at a department facility and
9 must have applied for all financial assistance reasonably
available through governmental sources as conditions of
10 eligibility for residency in the Veterans' Nursing Home
of Florida.
