14         Amendment to Amendment (885655) (with title amendment) 

15         On page 1, lines 19 through 26,

16  remove from the bill:  all of said lines

18  and insert in lieu thereof:

19         Section 1.  There is created the Bay of Pigs and

20  Operation Mongoose Historical Site and Memorial Study Group,

21  composed of one representative each from the John Pennekamp

22  Coral Reef State Park, the Division of State Lands of the

23  Department of Environmental Protection, the Molasses Reef

24  Marina Corporation, the Bay of Pigs and Operation Mongoose

25  Historical Site and Memorial Nonprofit Corporation, and a

26  fifth member to be agreed upon by all of the other four

27  members. The study group shall compile a report on an

28  appropriate memorial to the cause and sacrifice of the

29  participants in the Bay of Pigs invasion and Operation

30  Mongoose. The report shall review and discuss any appropriate

31  sites for the memorial, its development, ongoing maintenance,

 1  and appropriate funding sources for these activities. The

 2  report shall be submitted to the Governor and Cabinet, sitting

 3  as the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust

 4  Fund, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the

 5  President of the Senate by December 31, 2000.

10         On page 2, lines 4 through 15,

11  remove from the title of the bill:  all of said lines

13  and insert in lieu thereof:

14         Memorial Study Group; establishing the Bay of

15         Pigs and Operation Mongoose Historical Site and

16         Memorial Study Group; providing for membership

17         of the study group; requiring the study group

18         to compile and submit a report; providing an

19         effective date.

21         WHEREAS, the main thrust of the Bay of Pigs invasion

22  was launched on April 17, 1961, from bases in Nicaragua

23  towards southern Cuba, and clandestine diversionary raids were

24  launched towards northern Cuba from the Florida Keys, and
