  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to lawyer-client privilege;

  3         amending s. 90.502, F.S.; providing that ss.

  4         119.07 and 286.011, F.S., waive the privilege

  5         only for communications contained in public

  6         records or made in public meetings; providing

  7         an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Subsection (6) is added to section 90.502,

12  Florida Statutes, to read:

13         90.502  Lawyer-client privilege.--

14         (6)  Sections 119.07 and 286.011 may not be construed

15  as waiving the lawyer-client privilege except for

16  communications contained in a public record or made in a

17  public meeting.

18         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2000.

21                          SENATE SUMMARY

22    Provides that the lawyer-client privilege is not waived
      by the provisions of ss. 119.07 and 286.011, F.S., except
23    for communications made in public meetings or contained
      in public records.
