  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to resource recovery and

  3         management; amending s. 403.703, F.S.;

  4         redefining the term "source separated;"

  5         providing an effective date.

  7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9         Section 1.  Subsection (44) of section 403.703, Florida

10  Statutes, is amended to read:

11         403.703  Definitions.--As used in this act, unless the

12  context clearly indicates otherwise, the term:

13         (44)  "Source separated" means the recovered materials,

14  including metals, paper, glass, plastic, textiles, and rubber,

15  are separated from solid waste where the recovered materials

16  and solid waste are generated. The term does not require that

17  various types of recovered materials be separated from each

18  other and recognizes de minimis solid waste, in accordance

19  with industry standards and practices, may be included in the

20  recovered materials. Materials are not considered source

21  separated when two or more types of recovered materials are

22  deposited in combination with each other in a commercial

23  collection container located where the materials are generated

24  and such materials contain more than 10 percent solid waste by

25  volume.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2000.
