5 does not apply to employees or agents of
6 certain governmental entities; amending s.
7 627.7295, F.S.; providing exception to the
8 minimum down-payment requirement for motor
9 vehicle insurance policies; providing an
10 effective date.

12 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
13
14 Section 1. Section 626.852, Florida Statutes, is
15 amended to read:
16 626.852 Scope of this part.--
17 (1) This part applies only to insurance adjusters as
18 defined in this part.
19 (2) Unless otherwise required by context, the term
20 "adjusters" as used in this part applies to all licensees
21 defined as any type of adjuster.
22 (3) This part does not apply as to life insurance or
23 annuity contracts.
24 (4) This part does not apply to third-party
25 administrators or a person employed by a third-party
26 administrator holding a certificate of authority pursuant to
27 ss. 626.88-626.894.
28 (5) This part does not apply to any employee or agent
29 of a governmental entity providing services in support of any
30 self-insurance program adopted by such governmental entity.

1 Section 2. Subsection (8) is added to section
2 627.7295, Florida Statutes, to read:
3 627.7295 Motor vehicle insurance contracts.--
4 (8) Subsection (7) of this section does not apply if
5 an insured or family member has previously purchased and has
6 in effect a policy of private passenger motor vehicle
7 insurance and is purchasing additional coverage or adding
8 coverage for an additional vehicle, with such coverage being
9 written by the same insurer or a member of the same insurer
10 group.
11 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2000.

13 STATEMENT OF SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES CONTAINED IN
COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR

16 Provides that motor vehicle insurance policyholders and their
family members would be exempt from the requirement of making
17 a down payment equal to at least 2 months' premium if they
purchase additional coverage or add coverage for an additional
18 vehicle.
