2 An act relating to jai alai charity
3 performances; amending s. 550.0351, F.S.;
4 providing that permitholders may hold
5 additional performances to fund benefits for
6 retired jai alai players; providing an
7 effective date.

9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11 Section 1. Subsections (8) and (9) of section
12 550.0351, Florida Statutes, are amended to read:
13 550.0351 Charity racing days.--
14 (8) In addition to the eligible charities that meet
15 the criteria set forth in this section, a jai alai
16 permitholder is authorized to conduct two one additional
17 charity performances performance each fiscal year for a fund
18 to benefit retired jai alai players. This performance shall
19 be known as the "Retired Jai Alai Players Charity Day." The
20 administration of this fund shall be determined by rule by the
21 division.
22 (9) Notwithstanding the limitations set forth in
23 subsection (8), any jai alai permitholder who has not
24 conducted one "Retired Jai Alai Players Charity Day"
25 performance per year since the 1992-1993 fiscal year is
26 authorized to conduct up to two performances per fiscal year
27 until the time when the total number of such performances is
28 equivalent to the total number of fiscal years. This
29 subsection shall be repealed on July 1, 2000.
30 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2000.
