1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to family health care; amending
3 s. 409.904, F.S.; providing for eligibility for
4 the Medicaid program under certain
5 circumstances; providing an effective date.

7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

9 Section 1. Subsection (8) is added to section 409.904,
10 Florida Statutes, to read:
11 409.904 Optional payments for eligible persons.--The
12 agency may make payments for medical assistance and related
13 services on behalf of the following persons who are determined
14 to be eligible subject to the income, assets, and categorical
15 eligibility tests set forth in federal and state law. Payment
16 on behalf of these Medicaid eligible persons is subject to the
17 availability of moneys and any limitations established by the
18 General Appropriations Act or chapter 216.
19 (8) Parents and their minor children in a family with
20 family income at or below 200 percent of the current federal
21 poverty level. In determining eligibility, an assets test is
22 not required.
23 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2000.

27 Relates to family health care. Provides for eligibility
for the Medicaid program, without requiring an assets
28 test, for a family whose income is at or below 200
percent of the current federal poverty level.
