18 (3) The board shall require a demonstration of
19 continuing professional competency of engineers as a condition
20 of license renewal or relicensure. Every licensee must
21 complete 4 professional development hours, for each year of
22 the license renewal period. For each renewal period for such
23 continuing education 4 hours shall relate to this chapter and
24 the rules promulgated thereunder and the remaining 4 hours
25 hours shall relate to the licensee's area of practice. The
26 board shall adopt rules that are consistent with the
27 guidelines of the National Council of Examiners for
28 Engineering and Surveying for multijurisdictional licensees
29 for the purpose of avoiding proprietary continuing
30 professional competency requirements and shall allow
31 nonclassroom hours to be credited. The board may, by rule,
