  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to airports; amending s.

  3         332.004, F.S.; redefining the term "airport or

  4         aviation development project" to include

  5         off-site noise mitigation projects; providing

  6         an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  Subsection (4) of section 332.004, Florida

11  Statutes, is amended to read:

12         332.004  Definitions of terms used in ss.

13  332.003-332.007.--As used in ss. 332.003-332.007, the term:

14         (4)  "Airport or aviation development project" or

15  "development project" means any activity associated with the

16  design, construction, purchase, improvement, or repair of a

17  public-use airport or portion thereof, including, but not

18  limited to: the purchase of equipment; the acquisition of

19  land, including land required as a condition of a federal,

20  state, or local permit or agreement for environmental

21  mitigation; off-site airport noise mitigation projects; the

22  removal, lowering, relocation, marking, and lighting of

23  airport hazards; the installation of navigation aids used by

24  aircraft in landing at or taking off from a public airport;

25  the installation of safety equipment required by rule or

26  regulation for certification of the airport under s. 612 of

27  the Federal Aviation Act of 1958, and amendments thereto; and

28  the improvement of access to the airport by road or rail

29  system which is on airport property and which is consistent,

30  to the maximum extent feasible, with the approved local

  1  government comprehensive plan of the units of local government

  2  in which the airport is located.

  3         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

  4  law.
