  2         An act relating to warehouseman liens; amending

  3         s. 671.201, F.S.; revising the definition of

  4         the term "warehouse receipt" to include

  5         electronic notification; providing an effective

  6         date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10         Section 1.  Subsection (45) of section 671.201, Florida

11  Statutes, is amended to read:

12         671.201  General definitions.--Subject to additional

13  definitions contained in the subsequent chapters of this code

14  which are applicable to specific chapters or parts thereof,

15  and unless the context otherwise requires, in this code:

16         (45)  "Warehouse receipt" means a written receipt or an

17  electronic notification of receipt issued by a person engaged

18  in the business of storing goods for hire.

19         Section 2.  This act shall take effect October 1, 2000.

                       COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR

24  This committee substitute is different from SB 224 as it does
    not create an additional method to obtain a lien by a
25  warehouseman against a bailor for goods covered by an
    electronic notification of receipt, but it does retain the
26  amendment to Article 7 of the Uniform Commercial Code which
    includes an electronic notice of receipt within the definition
27  of "warehouse receipt."
