  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to education; amending s.

  3         233.0612, F.S.; authorizing school districts to

  4         provide instruction in the history of labor;

  5         providing an effective date.

  7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  8

  9         Section 1.  Subsections (6) through (11) of section

10  233.0612, Florida Statutes, are renumbered as subsections (7)

11  through (12), respectively, and a new subsection (6) is added

12  to said section to read:

13         233.0612  Authorized instruction.--Each school district

14  may provide students with programs and instruction at the

15  appropriate grade levels in areas including, but not limited

16  to, the following:

17         (6)  The history of labor in the United States and

18  Florida, including the historical legacy of labor as given by

19  each successive generation.

20         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2000.
