1 House Concurrent Resolution
2 A concurrent resolution ratifying the proposed
3 amendment to the Constitution of the United
4 States relating to equal rights for men and
5 women.

7 WHEREAS, the 92nd Congress of the United States of
8 America in both houses by a constitutional majority of
9 two-thirds thereof has made the following proposition to amend
10 the Constitution of the United States of America, in the
11 following words:

13 H. J. RES. 208:
14 JOINT RESOLUTION
15 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the Untied
16 States relative to equal rights for men and women.
17 RESOLVED BY THE SENATE AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
18 THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN CONGRESS ASSEMBLED (TWO-THIRDS
19 OF EACH HOUSE CONCURRING THEREIN), That the following article
20 is proposed as an Amendment to the Constitution of the United
21 States, which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as
22 part of the Constitution when ratified by the legislatures of
23 three-fourths of the several states within seven years from
24 the date of its submission by the Congress:
25 "ARTICLE
26 "Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not
27 be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on
28 account of sex.
29 "Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to
30 enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this
31 article.

1 "Section 3. This Amendment shall take effect two years
2 after the date of ratification."

4 WHEREAS, notwithstanding Congressional provisions
5 relating to the time limit in which the proposed amendment set
6 forth by the Congress of the United States must be ratified,
7 the House of Representatives of the State of Florida, the
8 Senate concurring, wishes it to be known that the State of
9 Florida supports equal rights for all citizens under the
10 Constitution of the United States, NOW, THEREFORE,

12 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
13 Florida, the Senate Concurring:

15 That the proposed amendment to the Constitution of the
16 United States set forth below be, and the same is hereby,
17 ratified by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
18 "ARTICLE
19 "Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not
20 be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on
21 account of sex.
22 "Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to
23 enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this
24 article.
25 "Section 3. This Amendment shall take effect two years
26 after the date of ratification."
27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of the
28 foregoing preamble and resolution be immediately forwarded by
29 the Secretary of State of the State of Florida, under the
30 great seal, to the President of the United States, the
31 Secretary of State of the United States, the President of the
