1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to weapons and firearms;
3 prohibiting the manufacture, importation,
4 distribution, sale, or possession of any
5 large-capacity ammunition magazine; defining
6 the term "large-capacity ammunition magazine";
7 providing a penalty; providing an effective
8 date.

10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12 Section 1. Manufacture, sale, or possession of
13 large-capacity ammunition magazine prohibited; penalty.--
14 (1) A person may not manufacture, import into this
15 state, distribute, sell, offer for sale, give, lend, or
16 possess any large-capacity ammunition magazine.
17 (2) As used in this section, the term "large-capacity
18 ammunition magazine" means any ammunition-feeding device that
19 has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds of centerfire
20 or rimfire ammunition. The term does not include:
21 (a) An ammunition-feeding device that has been
22 permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10
23 rounds of ammunition; or
24 (b) Any .22 caliber tube ammunition-feeding device.
25 (3) Any person who violates this section commits a
26 felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in section
27 775.082, section 775.083, or section 775.084, Florida
28 Statutes.
29 Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 2000.

2 SENATE SUMMARY
3 Provides that it is a third-degree felony to manufacture,
import, sell, or possess a large-capacity ammunition
4 magazine. Defines the term "large-capacity ammunition
magazine" to mean any ammunition-feeding device that has
5 a capacity of more than 10 rounds of ammunition. Provides
certain exceptions.
