12 following:

15 On page 4, between lines 29 and 30, of the bill

17 insert:
18 Section 6. (1) The Division of Historical Resources
19 of the Department of State, in conjunction with
20 representatives from Florida's Big Bend counties, including
21 Calhoun, Columbia, Dixie, Franklin, Gadsden, Gilcrist, Gulf,
22 Hamilton, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leon,
23 Liberty, Levy, Madison, Suwannee, Taylor, Union, Wakulla, and
24 Washington counties, municipalities, and post-secondary
25 educational institutions, shall develop a regionally based
26 study for the protection, preservation, restoration and
27 promotion of historically significant sites, objects and
28 landmarks to this area and to the state. The study shall
29 include, but not be limited to the following:
30 (a) Identification of the needs, including financial,
31 of the region in protection, preservation, restoration and

1 promotion of historically significant sites, objects, and
2 landmarks;
3 (b) Consideration of and recommendations concerning
4 the long-term management of those historic resources
5 previously under the Historic Tallahassee Preservation Board
6 of Trustees;
7 (c) Recommendations for local and regional
8 initiatives; and
9 (d) Recommendations for statutory changes and budget
10 considerations.
11 (2) The study shall be submitted to the President of
12 the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives no
13 later than January 1, 2001.

17 Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands,
18 Lee, Manatee, Okeechobee and Sarasota, municipalities, and
19 post-secondary educational institutions, shall develop a
20 regionally based study for the protection, preservation,
21 restoration and promotion of historically significant sites,
22 objects and landmarks to this area and to the state. The
23 study shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
