18 550.1647 Greyhound and jai alai permitholders;
19 unclaimed tickets; breaks.--
20 (1) All money or other property represented by any
21 unclaimed, uncashed, or abandoned pari-mutuel ticket which has
22 remained in the custody of or under the control of any
23 permitholder authorized to conduct greyhound racing
24 pari-mutuel pools in this state for a period of 1 year after
25 the date the pari-mutuel ticket was issued, if the rightful
26 owner or owners thereof have made no claim or demand for such
27 money or other property within that period of time, shall,
28 with respect to live races conducted by the permitholder and
29 with respect to simulcast greyhound races received by the
30 permitholder, be remitted to the state pursuant to s.
31 550.1645; however, such permitholder shall be entitled to a

1 credit that may be applied against any taxes imposed pursuant
2 to this chapter in the amount of the money or property so
3 remitted. In addition, each permitholder shall pay, from any
4 source, including the proceeds from performances conducted
5 pursuant to s. 550.0351, an amount not less than 10 percent of
6 the amount of the credit provided by this section to any
7 bonafide organization that promotes or encourages the adoption
8 of greyhounds.
9 (2) With respect to live greyhound races, the breaks
10 shall be retained by the permitholder conducting the race,
11 and, with respect to simulcast greyhound races, the breaks
12 shall be retained by the permitholder who receives the
13 simulcast.
14 (3) All money or other property represented by any
15 unclaimed, uncashed, or abandoned pari-mutuel ticket which has
16 remained in the custody of or under the control of any
17 permitholder authorized to conduct jai alai pari-mutuel pools
18 in this state for a period of 1 year after the date the
19 pari-mutuel ticket was issued, if the rightful owner or owners
20 thereof have made no claim or demand for such money or other
21 property within that period of time, shall, with respect to
22 live games, be paid to the National Association of Jai Alai
23 Frontons to be used for the general promotion of the sport of
24 jai alai in this state, including professional tournaments and
25 amateur jai alai youth programs. However, any permitholder
26 authorized to conduct jai alai pari-mutuel pools is entitled
27 to a credit against any taxes or fees imposed under this
28 chapter in the amount of the money or property remitted under
29 this subsection.
