  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to health care; directing the

  3         Department of Health and the Agency for Health

  4         Care Administration to convene a task force to

  5         identify and implement strategies to improve

  6         quality control and quality assurance for the

  7         state's health care delivery system; providing

  8         for a chair of the task force; providing for a

  9         report to the Legislature; providing for

10         abolition of the task force; providing an

11         effective date.

13  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15         Section 1.  The Legislature directs the Department of

16  Health and the Agency for Health Care Administration to

17  convene a task force to identify and implement strategies to

18  improve quality control and quality assurance in Florida's

19  health care delivery system. The task force will be jointly

20  chaired by the Secretary of Health and the Executive Director

21  of the Agency for Health Care Administration. Strategies

22  considered by this task force must include the most recent

23  recommendations of the Institute of Medicine on the subject.

24  The task force shall provide a report to the Legislature no

25  later than February 1, 2001. This task force is abolished June

26  1, 2001.

27         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

28  law.

  2                          SENATE SUMMARY

  3    Directs the Department of Health and the Agency for
      Health Care Administration to convene a task force to
  4    identify and implement strategies to improve quality
      control and quality assurance for the state's health care
  5    delivery system. Provides that the secretary of the
      department and the director of the agency shall chair the
  6    task force. Requires a report to the Legislature no later
      than February 1,2001. Abolishes the task force on June 1,
  7    2001.
