15 On page 31, between lines 17 and 18, of the bill
16
17 insert:
18 Section 17. (1) The Department of Health, in
19 conjunction with other affected state agencies, shall develop
20 a hepatitis A awareness and immunization program for food
21 service establishments, day care centers and any other
22 business setting in which the contraction of hepatitis A
23 threatens the public health and safety. The immunization
24 program shall be offered primarily through the county health
25 departments and shall be a self-supporting program, funded by
26 user fees. The Department of Health may work with
27 pharmaceutical manufacturers and private associations in
28 developing this program and in securing the hepatitis A
29 vaccine at the lowest possible cost. As part of this program,
30 the department shall distribute materials to potentially
31 affected businesses and individuals.

1 (2) The Department of Revenue, in conjunction with the
2 Department of Health and any other affected agencies, shall
3 consider the feasibility of providing a state refund to
4 businesses and individuals participating in the immunization
5 program and report to the President of the Senate and the
6 Speaker of the House of Representatives on the feasibility of
7 such a program by January 1, 2001.

26 House of Representatives by January 1, 2000;
