  1                    Senate Resolution No.     

  2         A resolution recognizing the week of June

  3         10-17, 2000, as the Workers' Right to Organize

  4         Week.

  6         WHEREAS, federal law protects employees' rights to form

  7  or join a union, and

  8         WHEREAS, unions provide employees with a voice on the

  9  job, and

10         WHEREAS, unions encourage better benefits and greater

11  job security for union workers, and

12         WHEREAS, unionized employees generally earn more than

13  their non-union counterparts and contribute to the economic

14  vitality of our communities, and

15         WHEREAS, unions have contributed to the growth of

16  democracy, the well-being of America's working families, and

17  our communities generally, NOW, THEREFORE,

19  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

20

21         That the week of June 10 through June 17, 2000, is

22  recognized as Workers' Right to Organize Week.
