11  Senator Diaz-Balart moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment 

14         On page 11, line 6 through line 17, delete those lines

15

16  and insert:

17         (d)  The department is authorized to contract for

18  children's services with a lead agency in each county of the

19  prototype area, except that the lead agency contract may cover

20  more than one county when it is determined that such coverage

21  will provide more effective or efficient services. The duties

22  of the lead agency shall include, but are not limited to:

23         1.  Directing and coordinating the programs and

24  services with the scope of its contract.

25         2.  Contracting for the provision of core services,

26  including intake and eligibility, assessment, service

27  planning, and case management. However, a lead agency may

28  obtain approval from the department to provide core services,

29  including intake and eligibility, assessment, service

30  planning, and case management, upon a finding by the

31  department that such lead agency is the only appropriate
