  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the City of Deerfield Beach,

  3         Broward County; extending and enlarging the

  4         corporate limits of the City of Deerfield Beach

  5         to include specified unincorporated lands

  6         within said corporate limits; providing an

  7         effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  The present corporate limits of the City of

12  Deerfield Beach, Broward County, Florida, are hereby extended

13  and enlarged so as to include, in addition to the territory

14  presently within its corporate limits, that part of "G and P

15  Plat", recorded in Plat Book 96, Page 44 of the Public Records

16  of Broward County, Florida, lying Northerly of the 40 foot

17  easement for road, utility and related purposes along the

18  right of way for Sample Road as shown on said plat.

20         Containing 16.06 acres, more or less.

22         Section 2.  All public roads and the public

23  rights-of-way associated therewith, lying within the limits of

24  the lands subject to annexation herein, as described in

25  section 1, are transferred from Broward County jurisdiction to

26  the jurisdiction of the annexing municipality, except any

27  county collector roads.

28         Section 3.  On the effective date of this act, the City

29  of Deerfield Beach shall be responsible for and embodied with

30  all municipal powers granted in chapter 166, Florida Statutes,

31  over territory hereby annexed.

  1         Section 4.  Nothing in this chapter shall be construed

  2  to affect or abrogate the rights of parties to any contracts,

  3  whether the same be between Broward County and a third party

  4  or between nongovernmental entities, which contracts are in

  5  effect prior to the effective date of annexation.

  6         Section 5.  This act shall take effect September 15,

  7  2000.
