  1                    Senate Resolution No.     

  2         A resolution recognizing April 23 through April

  3         29, 2000, as Administrative Professionals Week.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, Professional Secretaries Week has been

  6  observed for 48 years as a method of recognizing secretaries'

  7  contributions to the workplace and to attract people to

  8  secretarial careers, and

  9         WHEREAS, Professional Secretaries Week is celebrated

10  worldwide and has become one of the largest workplace

11  observances, bringing together millions of people for

12  activities ranging from community luncheons and educational

13  seminars to individual recognition of support staff in various

14  ways, and

15         WHEREAS, this year the International Association of

16  Administrative Professionals, which established Professional

17  Secretaries Week in 1952, changed the name of Professional

18  Secretaries Week to Administrative Professionals Week to more

19  correctly reflect the changing job titles and responsibilities

20  of today's administrative workforce, and

21         WHEREAS, professional secretaries and other

22  administrative support persons have an essential role and make

23  significant contributions to all areas of business and

24  professional services in the state and national economies,

25  NOW, THEREFORE,

27  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

28

29         That the Florida Senate recognizes the week of April 23

30  through April 29, 2000, as Administrative Professionals Week

31  in this state.
