  1                    Senate Resolution No.     

  2         A resolution recognizing and commending the

  3         Lake Mary Elementary School for excellence in

  4         public education.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, the Lake Mary Elementary School's mission is

  7  to promote self-esteem, strong academic achievement,

  8  creativity, and the acceptance of responsibility through high

  9  expectations, in a positive environment that unites staff,

10  parents, and the community to prepare all students for success

11  in real-life experiences, and

12         WHEREAS, the Lake Mary Elementary School's motto is

13  "Choosing to be the best," and

14         WHEREAS, the Lake Mary Elementary School is a Seminole

15  County Public school that has been in existence on the same

16  site for 75 years, and

17         WHEREAS, the Lake Mary Elementary School is designated

18  an "A" school under the Department of Education Report Card

19  System and was named a Five Star School in the 1996-1997,

20  1997-1998, and 1998-1999 school years, and

21         WHEREAS, the Lake Mary Elementary School had the

22  highest scores of any elementary school in the Seminole County

23  Public School District on the fourth grade Florida

24  Comprehensive Test Assessment and the fifth grade

25  Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills, and

26         WHEREAS, the Lake Mary Elementary School is clearly

27  achieving excellence and is fulfilling its mission statement

28  and motto, NOW, THEREFORE,

30  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

  1         That the Florida Senate commends the faculty, staff,

  2  and students of the Lake Mary Elementary School, under the

  3  leadership of Principal Gloria Flanagan and Assistant

  4  Principal Carol Ann Darnell, for achieving excellence in

  5  education.

  6         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

  7  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Gloria

  8  Flanagan, Principal of Lake Mary Elementary School, as a

  9  tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
