1 Senate Resolution No.
2 A resolution commending the Gulf Breeze High
3 School girls' varsity soccer team.

5 WHEREAS, each year there is a state championship
6 contest to determine which soccer team in the state is the
7 best in its division, and
8 WHEREAS, in 2000, the undefeated Gulf Breeze High
9 School girls' varsity soccer team won the 2A State Soccer
10 Championship by defeating Osceola at Pepin Rood Stadium in
11 Tampa, and
12 WHEREAS, the National Soccer Coaches Association of
13 America ranked the Gulf Breeze High School girls' soccer team
14 number one in the nation, and
15 WHEREAS, the team, consisting of Annie Adams, Brandi
16 Adams, Katie Childs, Elizabeth Davis, Allison Felkner,
17 Michelle Gorman, Brittani Herman, Laura Kelly, Mandy
18 Kreitzberg, Nikki Matsoukas, Monique Miles, Gwendolyn Oxenham,
19 Lauren Parks, Christy Pate, Summer Savage, Lacey Thomas,
20 Shannon Wing, Erin Ziegler, and Abby Zito, and coached by Mike
21 Lagow, Pam Reynolds, and Brian Maloy, has consistently
22 demonstrated the ability to work together to accomplish the
23 team's goals, and
24 WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the Senate
25 of the State of Florida recognize the Gulf Breeze High School
26 girls' soccer team for winning both the state and national
27 championships, NOW, THEREFORE,

29 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

1 That the Florida Senate pauses in its deliberations to
2 commend the Gulf Breeze High School girls' varsity soccer team
3 for winning both the 2A state championship and the national
4 championship.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,
6 with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the
7 coaches and to each member of the Gulf Breeze High School
8 girls' varsity soccer team as a tangible token of the
9 sentiments of the Florida Senate.
