  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Florida Building Code;

  3         exempting certain counties from certain

  4         portions of the Florida Building Code under

  5         certain circumstances for certain purposes;

  6         providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10         Section 1.  Notwithstanding any other provision of law,

11  any county which adopted on or before May 1, 1999, a building

12  code other than the Standard Building Code, which provides

13  windstorm standards that are more stringent than those

14  contained in the Florida Building Code, is exempt from the

15  provisions of the Florida Building Code relating to windstorm

16  standards to the extent necessary to enforce such more

17  stringent standards.

18         Section 2.  This act shall take effect January 1, 2001.

21                          HOUSE SUMMARY

      Effective January 1, 2001, exempts from windstorm
23    standards provisions of the Florida Building Code
      counties which adopted, on or before May 1, 1999, a
24    building code specifying more stringent windstorm
      standards than the Florida Building Code, to the extent
25    necessary to enforce the more stringent standards.
