1 Senate Concurrent Resolution No.
2 A concurrent resolution urging the Governor to
3 create an honorary office for the recognition
4 of persons who have performed noteworthy
5 service to a community, the state, or the
6 nation.

8 WHEREAS, it is the sentiment of the Legislature that it
9 is appropriate for the Governor to recognize persons,
10 Floridians and non-Floridians alike, for meritorious service
11 to a community, to this state, or to the nation, and
12 WHEREAS, the Legislature further recognizes that,
13 through the continued civic involvement of honorees, a
14 resource will be created which will tangibly benefit the
15 people of the state, and
16 WHEREAS, the Legislature finds that Leadership Florida
17 Statewide Community Foundation, Inc., has enhanced
18 communication among state leaders and has worked to build
19 broad consensus on the value of statewide perspective in a
20 nonpartisan manner, and
21 WHEREAS, the Legislature finds that the criteria for
22 recognition are properly subject to the determination of the
23 Governor of this state, NOW, THEREFORE,

25 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida, the
26 House of Representatives Concurring:

28 That upon nomination of persons by the Leadership
29 Florida Statewide Community Foundation, Inc., the Governor is
30 urged to appoint and recognize those persons who have
31 performed meritorious service to their community, the state,

1 or the nation by commissioning such individuals as members of
2 the Honorable Order of Florida Admirals.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Honorable Order of
4 Florida Admirals should be administered by the foundation,
5 which shall maintain the Order's register, and the foundation
6 should seek to enhance the Order by providing publicity,
7 seeking voluntary dues or contributions to build statewide
8 community and otherwise provide for programs and activities to
9 bring honor and benefit to the Order and the state.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, if the foundation does not
11 provide for the administration of the Order, the Governor is
12 urged to designate an alternative organization to provide for
13 the administration.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that recognition of members of
15 the Order should include the granting of an honorary
16 commission under the State Seal by the Governor as the
17 Honorary Commander-In-Chief of the Order.
