  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to dangerous dogs; amending s.

  3         767.14, F.S.; revising provisions relating to

  4         the authority of local governments to place

  5         further restrictions or additional requirements

  6         on owners of dangerous dogs or to develop

  7         procedures and criteria for the implementation

  8         of state law governing dangerous dogs to remove

  9         a restriction that no local regulation be

10         specific to breed; revising applicability;

11         providing an effective date.

13  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15         Section 1.  Section 767.14, Florida Statutes, is

16  amended to read:

17         767.14  Additional local restrictions

18  authorized.--Nothing in this act shall limit any local

19  government from placing further restrictions or additional

20  requirements on owners of dangerous dogs or developing

21  procedures and criteria for the implementation of this act,

22  provided that no such regulation is specific to breed and that

23  the provisions of this act are not lessened by such additional

24  regulations or requirements.  This section shall not apply to

25  any local ordinance adopted prior to October 1, 1990.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

27  law.
