17 Section 1. Paragraph (c) of subsection (29) of section
18 121.021, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
19 121.021 Definitions.--The following words and phrases
20 as used in this chapter have the respective meanings set forth
21 unless a different meaning is plainly required by the context:
22 (29) "Normal retirement date" means the first day of
23 any month following the date a member attains one of the
24 following statuses:
25 (c) If a Senior Management Service Class member, the
26 member:
27 1. Completes 7 years of creditable service in the
28 Senior Management Service Class and attains age 62; or
29 2. Completes 30 years of any creditable service,
30 regardless of age, which may include a maximum of 4 years of
31 military service credit as long as such credit is not claimed

1 under any other system; or.
2 3. Either meets the criteria set forth in subparagraph
3 1. or subparagraph 2. or completes 20 or more years of any
4 creditable service, including at least 5 years of creditable
5 service in the Senior Management Service Class, regardless of
6 age, and, during the period between October 1, 2000, and June
7 30, 2002, inclusive, either elects to participate in the
8 Florida Retirement System Deferred Retirement Option Program
9 (DROP) or terminates employment. A member who qualifies under
10 this subparagraph shall receive a percentage value of 3
11 percent for each year of creditable service in the Senior
12 Management Service Class; the calculation for the average
13 final compensation for the benefit shall be based upon the
14 member's 3 highest years of salary earned during the member's
15 covered employment; and all associated costs for a member to
16 upgrade service performed within the purview of the Senior
17 Management Service Class shall be retroactive to October 1,
18 1987, and shall be the proportionate responsibility of the
19 employers for whom the member worked during the member's
20 covered employment.

22 "Normal retirement age" is attained on the "normal retirement
23 date."

5 statewide prosecutors, and assistant public defenders to the
6 Senior Management Service Class of the Florida Retirement
7 System; authorizing the state courts to pay selected exempt
8 service benefits to judicial assistants; creating a
9 one-time-only normal retirement incentive program for members
10 of the Senior Management Service Class; providing an effective
11 date.
