2 An act relating to the Florida Statutes;
3 repealing various statutory provisions that
4 have become obsolete, have had their effect,
5 have served their purpose, or have been
6 impliedly repealed or superseded; repealing s.
7 163.055(1)(a) and (b), F.S., relating to
8 findings with respect to the Local Government
9 Financial Technical Assistance Program;
10 amending s. 265.001, F.S.; deleting obsolete
11 provisions relating to selection of members to
12 the Florida Women's Hall of Fame; repealing s.
13 272.161(1)(d), F.S., relating to an audit and
14 report to the Legislature on state employee
15 parking in non-state-owned parking lots;
16 repealing s. 287.064(9), F.S., relating to
17 authority of the Department of Law Enforcement
18 for fiscal year 1998-1999 to finance through
19 the Comptroller's consolidated master equipment
20 financing program the purchase of equipment,
21 software, and services for the Florida Crime
22 Information Center; repealing s. 287.084(3),
23 F.S., relating to authority of the Glades
24 School District for fiscal year 1999-2000 to
25 give consideration to Florida vendors for a
26 pilot program for telemedicine within the
27 district; providing an effective date.

29 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

1 Section 1. Paragraphs (a) and (b) of subsection (1) of
2 section 163.055, Florida Statutes, are repealed.
3 Section 2. Section 265.001, Florida Statutes, is
4 amended to read:
5 265.001 Florida Women's Hall of Fame.--
6 (1) It is the intent of the Legislature to recognize
7 and honor those women who, through their works and lives, have
8 made significant contributions to the improvement of life for
9 women and for all citizens of Florida.
10 (2)(a) There is hereby established the Florida Women's
11 Hall of Fame. The Department of Management Services shall set
12 aside an area on the Plaza Level of the Capitol Building and
13 shall consult with the Florida Commission on the Status of
14 Women regarding the design and theme of such area.
15 (b) Each person who is selected as a member shall have
16 a designation placed in the Florida Women's Hall of Fame,
17 which designation shall provide information regarding the
18 member's particular discipline or contribution and any vital
19 information relating to the member.
20 (3) Within 1 year after July 1, 1992, the Governor
21 shall reinstate the 27 original members of the Florida Women's
22 Hall of Fame selected during 1982, 1984, and 1986.
23 (3)(4)(a) Upon July 1, 1992, the Florida Commission on
24 the Status of Women shall accept nominations for the Florida
25 Women's Hall of Fame for 1992 and shall close nominations on
26 September 1. By October 1, the commission shall recommend to
27 the Governor 10 persons from which up to three members shall
28 be selected by November 1.
29 (a)(b) For Every year thereafter, the commission shall
30 accept nominations for persons to be recommended as members of
31 the Florida Women's Hall of Fame. The commission shall

1 recommend to the Governor 10 persons from which up to three
2 members shall be selected.
3 (b)(c) In making recommendations pursuant to this
4 subsection, the commission shall recommend women who were born
5 in Florida or adopted Florida as their home state and base of
6 operation and who have made a significant contribution to the
7 enhancement of women in this state.
8 (4)(5) The Florida Commission on the Status of Women
9 may set specific time periods for acceptance of nominations
10 and the selection of members to coincide with the appropriate
11 activities of the Florida Women's Hall of Fame.
12 Section 3. Paragraph (d) of subsection (1) of section
13 272.161, Florida Statutes, is repealed.
14 Section 4. Subsection (9) of section 287.064, Florida
15 Statutes, is repealed.
16 Section 5. Subsection (3) of section 287.084, Florida
17 Statutes, is repealed.
18 Section 6. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
19 law.
