  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to prekindergarten early

  3         intervention programs; amending s. 230.2305,

  4         F.S.; requiring the Florida Partnership for

  5         School Readiness to develop legislation to

  6         expand the prekindergarten early intervention

  7         program to provide access to all 4-year old

  8         children at no cost to the children's parents;

  9         requiring a report; providing an appropriation;

10         providing an effective date.

12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14         Section 1.  Paragraph (c) is added to subsection (6) of

15  section 230.2305, to read:

16         230.2305  Prekindergarten early intervention program.--

17         (6)  FUNDING.--

18         (c)  The Florida Partnership for School Readiness, in

19  consultation with the Legislature, shall develop legislation

20  to expand the prekindergarten early intervention program to

21  provide access for all 4-year old children at no cost to the

22  children's parents.  The Florida Partnership for School

23  Readiness shall report its recommendations to the Legislature,

24  in the form of legislation, no later than November 1, 2000.

25         Section 2.  There is hereby appropriated to the Florida

26  Partnership for School Readiness an amount sufficient to carry

27  out the provisions of this act.

28         Section 3.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

29  law.
