13         Amendment (with title amendment) 

14  Remove from the bill:  Everything after the enacting clause

16  and insert in lieu thereof:

17         Section 1.  Subsection (1) of section 322.251, Florida

18  Statutes, is amended to read:

19         322.251  Notice of cancellation, suspension,

20  revocation, or disqualification of license.--

21         (1)  All orders of cancellation, suspension,

22  revocation, or disqualification issued under the provisions of

23  this chapter, chapter 318, chapter 324, or ss. 627.732-627.734

24  shall be given either by personal delivery thereof to the

25  licensee whose license is being canceled, suspended, revoked,

26  or disqualified or by certified mail, return receipt requested

27  deposit in the United States mail in an envelope, first class,

28  postage prepaid, addressed to the licensee at his or her last

29  known mailing address furnished to the department.  Such

30  mailing by the department constitutes notification, and any

31  failure by the person to receive the mailed order will not

 1  affect or stay the effective date or term of the cancellation,

 2  suspension, revocation, or disqualification of the licensee's

 3  driving privilege. The return of the notice as undeliverable

 4  by the postal authorities constitutes compliance with this

 5  provision. The notice shall provide:

 6         (a)  The reason or reasons for the cancellation,

 7  suspension, revocation, or disqualification; and

 8         (b)  Instructions on what the licensee may do to avoid

 9  the cancellation, suspension, revocation, or disqualification,

10  if possible.

11         Section 2.  This act shall take effect January 1, 2001.
