14         On page 2, line 3, of the bill

16  insert:

17         Section 3.  Section 921.161, Florida Statutes, is

18  amended to read:

19         921.161  Sentence not to run until imposed; credit for

20  county jail time after sentence; certificate of custodian of

21  jail sheriff.--

22         (1)  A sentence of imprisonment shall not begin to run

23  before the date it is imposed, but the court imposing a

24  sentence shall allow a defendant credit for all of the time

25  she or he spent in the county jail before sentence. The credit

26  must be for a specified period of time and shall be provided

27  for in the sentence.

28         (2)  In addition to other credits, a person sentenced

29  to imprisonment in custody of the Department of Corrections

30  shall receive credit on her or his sentence for all time spent

31  between sentencing and being placed in custody of the

 1  department. When delivering a prisoner to the department, the

 2  custodian of the local jail sheriff shall certify to it in

 3  writing:

 4         (a)  The date the sentence was imposed and the date the

 5  prisoner was delivered to the department.

 6         (b)  The dates of any periods after sentence the

 7  prisoner was at liberty on bond.

 8         (c)  The dates and reasons for any other times the

 9  prisoner was at liberty after sentence.

10         (d)  The offender-based transaction system number or

11  numbers from the uniform arrest report or reports established

12  pursuant to s. 943.05(2).

14  The certificate shall be prima facie evidence of the facts

15  certified.

19  And the title is amended as follows:

20         On page 1, line 9, after the semicolon,

21

22  insert:

23         amending s. 921.161, F.S.; authorizing the

24         custodian of the local jail to provide certain

25         written certification to the Department of

26         Corrections when delivering a prisoner into the

27         custody of the department;
