  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Florida Retirement

  3         System; directing the director of the Division

  4         of Retirement to permit wartime veterans

  5         employed in the system to claim certain

  6         military service as additional years of

  7         employment for retirement purposes; providing

  8         an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12         Section 1.  Purchase of military service by wartime

13  veterans.--The director of the Division of Retirement is

14  hereby directed to permit wartime veterans who have been

15  employed on or after January 1, 1987, under the Florida

16  Retirement System to purchase military service as additional

17  years of employment for retirement purposes under the Florida

18  Retirement System.

19         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

20  law.

      Requires the director of the Division of Retirement to
