  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to social and economic

  3         assistance; providing a definition of "social

  4         and economic services"; limiting liability for

  5         persons who provide such services and transport

  6         clients in certain vehicles; providing an

  7         effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Provision of social and economic services;

12  definition; limited liability for transportation in personal

13  vehicles.--

14         (1)  For the purposes of this section, "social and

15  economic services" means the providing of financial assistance

16  as well as preventive and rehabilitative social services for

17  children, adults, and families.

18         (2)  Any person engaged in the provision of social and

19  economic services for a public or private agency who

20  transports clients in the person's personal vehicle when such

21  transportation is provided in the course of providing social

22  and economic services shall not be held liable for any civil

23  damage as a result of an accident arising out of such

24  transportation when the person engaged in the provision of the

25  social or economic service and in driving his or her personal

26  vehicle acts as a reasonably prudent person would have acted

27  under the same or similar circumstances.

28         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

29  law.
