1 House Resolution
2 A resolution commemorating the renovation of
3 the House Chamber and recognizing the House
4 Chamber renovation project team.

6 WHEREAS, the House Chamber was originally conceived for
7 a smaller legislative body and completed in 1977, and
8 WHEREAS, the combined factors of age and advancements
9 in technology necessitated significant renovation and
10 modernization of the Chamber, and
11 WHEREAS, House leadership sought out highly qualified
12 design and construction experts to complete the renovation,
13 and
14 WHEREAS, House leadership sought to incorporate
15 state-of-the-art furnishings and technological capacity while
16 creating a more traditional Chamber design, and
17 WHEREAS, the Department of Management Services added
18 their expertise through the leadership of the Division of
19 Building Construction and the Division of Facilities
20 Management on this project, and
21 WHEREAS, Hicks Nation Architects, Inc., served as the
22 architect of record and coordinator of design, and
23 WHEREAS, Tomlinson Peterson Associates, Inc., provided
24 the electrical design and the audiovisual system design, and
25 WHEREAS, Watkins Engineers and Constructors served as
26 the construction manager, bringing the project to a timely
27 conclusion, and
28 WHEREAS, Main Street Design, Inc., added their
29 expertise as interior designers to the project, and
30 WHEREAS, Novikoff created and installed the custom
31 member desks and other furniture components, and

1 WHEREAS, Excel Millwork & Moulding, Inc., produced and
2 installed the wood trim, paneling, and casegoods, and
3 WHEREAS, Corbett Lighting, Inc., created the custom
4 lighting fixtures, and
5 WHEREAS, Christopher M. Still was chosen to create the
6 murals depicting the history, geography, and people of
7 Florida, and
8 WHEREAS, a House staff leadership team comprised of
9 Clerk of the House, John Phelps, Sergeant at Arms, Earnie
10 Sumner, director of the Office of Information Technology, Sean
11 Johnson, and director of House Purchasing, Bo Pittman,
12 provided daily oversight for the renovation project, NOW,
13 THEREFORE,

15 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
16 Florida:

18 That the efforts of the House Chamber renovation
19 project team have indeed accomplished the successful
20 renovation of the House Chamber which, through its decor and
21 functionality, will benefit the members of the House of
22 Representatives and the people of the State of Florida by
23 providing a facility best suited for the lawmaking process.
24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Members of the House
25 of Representatives express their sincere gratitude to the
26 entire House Chamber renovation project team for their
27 individual and corporate contributions, dedication, and hard
28 work in accomplishing the successful renovation of the Chamber
29 of the House of Representatives of the State of Florida.
