  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution recognizing the Governor's High

  3         School All-Stars.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, in introducing the Governor's High School

  6  All-Stars program, Governor Jeb Bush commented, "It is

  7  important for our state to recognize the many high school

  8  students throughout Florida who are doing all the right

  9  things," and

10         WHEREAS, starting with the 1999-2000 school year, one

11  high school junior from each of Florida's public school

12  districts will be chosen annually by a panel comprised of not

13  less than one teacher, one administrator, one parent, one

14  community leader, and two high school seniors who will be

15  charged with the task of determining which students among the

16  state's many fine young people best exemplify excellence of

17  character based on academic success, good behavior, leadership

18  skills, and service to their community, and

19         WHEREAS, the first of the Governor's High School

20  All-Stars and the school districts they represent are as

21  follows: Marcus Rollins, Alachua; Alison Webb, Baker; Keith

22  Martin, Bay; Latoya Chandler, Bradford; Kyla Mocharnuk,

23  Brevard; Lauren Dwyer, Broward; Emily Hand, Calhoun; Andrew

24  Promey, Charlotte; Lara Harbison, Citrus; Angela Kite, Clay;

25  Amanda Stokes, Collier; Mark Scott, Columbia; Leslie Lolley,

18  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

19  Florida:

21         That the House of Representatives enthusiastically

22  endorses Governor Jeb Bush in his recognition of the

23  outstanding young people designated the first of the

24  Governor's High School All-Stars, congratulates them on

25  possessing the qualities of character which have led to their

26  selection, and wishes them utmost success in the years to

27  come.

28         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

29  be presented to each High School All-Star as a tangible token

30  of the sentiments expressed herein.
