  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution honoring Daniel D. Cantor.

  3

  4         WHEREAS, revered philanthropist and renaissance man

  5  Daniel D. Cantor has made a pace-setting gift to Touro

  6  College, making it possible for the international college to

  7  open a campus in Florida, and

  8         WHEREAS, Touro College was established with a vision

  9  for Jewish and human excellence and is committed to helping to

10  intensify and enrich Jewish life in the United States, Israel,

11  and abroad, offering undergraduate degrees in specific areas

12  on 18 campuses worldwide, with the new undergraduate school in

13  Florida to be named after Daniel D. Cantor in recognition of

14  his generosity to the school and his vision and support for

15  Jewish education, and

16         WHEREAS, Mr. Cantor has given and raised millions of

17  dollars on behalf of a multitude of nonprofit organizations,

18  and is the Founder and President Emeritus of the Daniel D.

19  Cantor Senior Center, and

20         WHEREAS, Mr. Cantor has received many awards from

21  Jewish, civic, and health organizations for his contributions

22  as a noted humanitarian and philanthropist, and has received

23  the distinguished honor of being named Florida's Founding

24  Father in the American Promenade by the Joint Commission on

25  the American Promenade, and the entire promenade, which is an

26  Israeli national park serving as a gateway to the ancient city

27  of Jerusalem, has been named the Daniel D. Cantor American

28  Israel Promenade Plaza, NOW, THEREFORE,

30  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

31  Florida:

  1         That the House of Representatives pauses in its

  2  deliberations to honor Daniel D. Cantor for his commitment to

  3  enriching the lives of Florida's citizens, his support for

  4  Jewish organizations, and his contributions toward the

  5  betterment of people everywhere.

  6         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

  7  be presented to Daniel D. Cantor as a tangible token of the

  8  sentiments expressed herein.
