1 House Resolution
2 A resolution recognizing Ed Healey for his many
3 years of service to the State of Florida.

5 WHEREAS, Ed Healey served the citizens of Palm Beach
6 County and the State of Florida with honesty and integrity as
7 a member of the Florida House of Representatives for a tenure
8 spanning 22 years over four decades, from 1974 to 2000, and
9 WHEREAS, Ed Healey was a strong voice for military
10 veterans, having served his country as a member of the U.S.
11 Army 82nd Airborne Division from 1942 to 1945 and having
12 sponsored the creation of the Department of Veterans' Affairs
13 in Florida, and
14 WHEREAS, Ed Healey advanced the causes of many elderly
15 residents in our state through initiatives such as the
16 sponsorship of the creation of the Department of Elder Affairs
17 and the establishment of the Commission on Aging, and by
18 helping to establish adult congregate living facilities for
19 nondisabled seniors, and
20 WHEREAS, Ed Healey believed in the need to provide
21 adequate health care, and subsequently sponsored legislation
22 that created the Palm Beach County Health Care District and
23 served on the board of the district for eight years, and
24 WHEREAS, Ed Healey was committed to the needs of
25 education in Florida, receiving the Legislative Friends of
26 Education Award in 1995 and being named the top legislator by
27 teachers in 1996, and
28 WHEREAS, Ed Healey served with distinction as an active
29 member of many local, statewide, and national civic,
30 environmental, professional, and social organizations, and

1 WHEREAS, Ed Healey was an inspiration to many at home
2 and in Tallahassee due to his kindness, his humor, his strong
3 convictions, and his devotion to common men and women, NOW,
4 THEREFORE,

6 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
7 Florida:
8
9 That the House of Representatives hereby recognizes and
10 commemorates the life of Ed Healey for his dedicated service
11 to his community and to the citizens of the State of Florida,
12 and expresses its sincerest condolences to his family,
13 friends, and constituents.
