  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution designating April 11, 2000, as

  3         Submarine Sailors Day.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, all men and women who have so proudly served

  6  the United States of America in a United States Armed Forces

  7  uniform are more than deserving of the gratitude and

  8  appreciation of all American citizens, and

  9         WHEREAS, each organization under the banner of the

10  United States Armed Forces has contributed greatly to the

11  preservation of our great nation, and bravely defended the

12  citizens and the Constitution of the United States, and

13         WHEREAS, the United States Navy's silent service is

14  comprised of an elite group of sailors who subject themselves

15  to conditions most Americans would quickly shy away from,

16  spending long weeks at a time in small quarters under the

17  surface of the ocean and performing tasks that require skill,

18  talent, and vast technological knowledge, all for the

19  protection of our ideals, our honor, and our Constitution, and

20         WHEREAS, the United States Submarine Veterans represent

21  a special group of dedicated sailors who bravely served their

22  country in times of both war and peace, and

23         WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the citizens of

24  the State of Florida recognize, honor, and thank all United

25  States Submarine Sailors, past and present, for their

26  accomplishments, their courage, and their supreme devotion to

27  duty, NOW, THEREFORE,

29  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

30  Florida:
