  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution commending the Freemasons and

  3         Keith W. Dean for their contributions to the

  4         citizens of the state.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, Freemasonry began in medieval times and has

  7  been organized since the 18th century, and

  8         WHEREAS, Freemasonry was transplanted to the American

  9  colonies by English and Irish masons during the early decades

10  of the 18th century, and

11         WHEREAS, Keith William Dean, born in Ancon, Panama

12  Canal Zone, on October 2, 1939, graduated from Vallejo Senior

13  High School in California, served in the United States Air

14  Force for 6 years, graduated from Angelo State University, San

15  Angelo, Texas, in 1971, and retired from the Florida Army

16  National Guard after 13 years as a special forces team

17  sergeant, and

18         WHEREAS, Keith W. Dean has continued to serve as an

19  officer at both local and state levels in numerous areas of

20  Freemasonry, and in 1999 he was installed as Grand Master of

21  The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of

22  Florida, and

23         WHEREAS, married and the father of two sons and four

24  daughters, Keith W. Dean considers his most important

25  activities to be his family, his Masonry, and his community

26  service and, time permitting, he also enjoys fishing and

27  camping, and

28         WHEREAS, Keith W. Dean, Grand Master of Masons of

29  Florida, serves as a leader to tens of thousands of Florida

30  Freemasons, as well as hundreds of thousands from around the

31  world who sojourn in our state, and

  1         WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the House

  2  of Representatives of the State of Florida pause in its

  3  deliberations to honor the Freemasons and Keith W. Dean for

  4  their contributions to the state, NOW, THEREFORE,

  5

  6  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

  7  Florida:

  8

  9         That the House of Representatives of the State of

10  Florida hereby commends the Freemasons of Florida and Keith W.

11  Dean for their contributions to the citizens of this state and

12  hereby accords this expression in recognition and appreciation

13  of the invaluable service rendered to the state.

14         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

15  be presented to Keith W. Dean, Grand Master of Masons of

16  Florida, as a tangible token of the sentiments expressed

17  herein.
